Peter Czehryn and Paulette Cote started the Winnipeg Soup Fairies during the start of the pandemic. They personally make soup and bread, and deliver to anyone in need of a hot meal.
But Peter and Paulette have been doing good for their community for a long time before that. Peter makes beautiful pysanksy eggs once a year that he auctions off and donates the proceeds. This year, he raised $5,050 for Canadian Hemophilia Society.
Paulette recently retired from École Varennes where she worked as a Community Liaison, leading and collaborating with students on many projects, including several to support the St. Mary’s United Church Food Bank.
They are both also veteran volunteers with Harvest Manitoba, and have travelled internationally for humanitarian aid work in Mongolia and Serbia through charitable organizations.
Thank you for all the amazing work you do and thank you for being Community Heroes!
